Cemen Tech’s founder, Hugh J. Tobler, passed away in Sun City (Phoenix), AZ. on Saturday, May 22, at the age of 89.  Mr. Tobler founded Cemen Tech, Inc. in 1969 as a sales and marketing company selling the Daffin Concrete Mobile.  The company began manufacturing its own line of concrete equipment in the late 1970’s.  Mr. Tobler was a very innovative and optimistic individual.  Under his leadership Cemen Tech grew into a major player in the mobile concrete mixer industry.  In the late 1980’s Mr. Tobler began investigating retirement strategies, and in 1989 set up the Cemen Tech Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).  Through this entity he sold his interests in Cemen Tech to the employees, and today Cemen Tech is 100% employee owned.  Mr. Tobler’s employees knew him as a kind, generous and fair individual.  In 1995 he and his wife Eileen moved to Sun City, AZ, where they enjoyed many activities in retirement.  Mr. Tobler was an avid golfer playing several times each week.

Mr. Tobler was a true giant in the mobile concrete mixer industry.  He led a successful company in the transition from a sales/ marketing company to a successful manufacturing company with its own product line.  He then managed the transformation from single proprietor management system to a corporate system.  He truly realized that the ultimate boss was the customer who freely made a decision whether to purchase or not purchase one’s product.  He worked tirelessly to promote mobile concrete mixers.  To him, problems were opportunities to succeed where others had failed.  Mr. Tobler will be missed by his family and friends, by the employees of Cemen Tech, and by the mobile concrete mixer industry.
